A care-free veteran shows a soulless Skid the ups of being down. ETA: September 2022
This animation has been in the works (on-and-off) since June 2021. I hope to expand and improve this production from Skid vs One, hence why this is taking much longer. I am also a very good procrastinator, so this, combined with an attempt to increase the production quality, results in a very tired me taking my sweet old time. If the ETA has surpassed, then I apologize for this delay.
So Skid is fighting Larry. Or, as his brothers used to call him, Skid is fighting Rens.
Larry is a lighthearted, teal dojo duelist by Shuge. He has been prevalent in duels in the past, and I enjoyed watching his story unfold (and still progressing!) with every duel and personal animation that Shuge has released. My face lit up when he told me that I was allowed use his character in my animation, and though this isn't an "official" duel, I will still try my best to do Larry justice! Since Larry is seen smiling in many of his animations, it was be a great juxtaposition to Skid's nonchalant expression. Larry is full of emotion, whereas Skid is lacking it. It shall be the battle of morals - which is better: to feel everything, or to feel nothing at all?
This battle takes place directly after Skid vs One. One is still present in this animation for continuity, and shall be involved in some way as well. Additionally, Larry will not be having his sword in this animation, as he is still looking for it in Shuge's last animation. I hope to add continuity from his story in some way as well.
The music used for the fight scene of this animation is very different from Skid vs One. To be honest, I feel like some people will dislike the music choice. This music track is very risky; it is a bit abstract and out of my usual playlist, which is why it shall be kept a secret until the animation's premiere. I would like to surprise people with this unconventional music choice, but please do not expect an absolute banger track. And sorry to tempt you, but you will just have to wait and see to see if you hate it!
I am learning to use Blender to create some of the background scenery for this animation. Due to the location taking place in Old Aether, in an abandoned city, I think that modeling and using 3D directly for the cityscape will not only be easier, but provide more opportunities to impress viewers with its potential for camera angles; this, which would otherwise be very hard to animate on a 2-D program, would make my personal workflow a lot faster. Flash will still be used for the character animation, importing scenes into Blender for the background. It is an interesting challenge to tackle a whole different program, so I am glad to have this new experience. I would also like to humble myself and say that I am not by all means great at Blender in any way, so please do not expect any professional Blender backgrounds or anything of the sort in the final animation (and if you would like to share any useful tips using Blender, I am very happy to receive them🙏)
In the end, I just want to make an animation and finish it. I am just glad that I am able to share it with people who are willing to watch (and in this case, read!)
If you would like to see progress on this animation then I recommend checking on my Twitch to see if I am streaming any progress. I will do my best to avoid streaming spoilers, but there might be spoilers anyways so be careful!
